These fossils are pine cones, which were prepared for petrified-wood.de. Three-dimensionally preserved, not flattened cones are a rare find and often have a specific aesthetic, because they are all too familiar to us from recent nature. These specimens present themselves on unbroken siltstone slabs and were harmoniously displayed without working too much on the matrix.
The charred substance of the scales had to be stabilized several times during the preparation. Otherwise it would have been easily destroyed during work.
